Sometimes the right questions only come from lived experience
The decisions that define your business deserve more than an outside perspective, they deserve inside experience.
Ignition Advisory brings together senior practitioners, people who have held C-suite roles, carried the accountability, and operated across the full complexity of global markets.
We don't just bring frameworks. We bring pattern recognition, scar tissue, and the kind of experience that only comes from having made the hard calls yourself.I.
When the stakes are high and the path isn't clear, the difference between guidance and genuine expertise matters. That's what we bring.
The tide is coming, move with it, or be moved by it
Make decisions with confidence
Decisions informed by a connected view of your business, not isolated data points made with the full picture in front of you
Strategy, risk, and capital considered together, never in silos, and never at the expense of one another
The right information, ready for the right conversations, whether internal, external, or under pressure
Counsel shaped by experience, and by professionals who have navigated the same decisions and understand the weight behind them
Hold steady under scrutiny
The right oversight and operating model as a foundation, not an afterthought, support the execution of the strategy
Internal structures that give leadership teams the clarity to act decisively, without ambiguity or delay
Investors, boards, and regulators prepared for with the right beath and depth of information
A business that performs under scrutiny, from the inside out, operationally sound and built to last
Stabilized and built for what's next
Operational structures designed to support sustainable growth and long-term resilience
Technology aligned to your operating model, enabling scalability without adding unnecessary complexity
A disciplined approach to stabilisation that creates the right conditions for growth, sequenced deliberately, not reactive
Outcomes and timelines shaped by your strategic ambitions, with the team and structures in place to deliver on them
The cost of the wrong call at the wrong moment isn't a line item. It's your trajectory.
A capital raise that falls short because the governance story didn't hold up. A regulatory intervention that could have been avoided. A valuation at exit that reflected the gaps a buyer found, gaps you knew were there but hadn't addressed.
These aren't worst-case scenarios. They are the predictable outcomes of navigating high-stakes decisions without the right senior experience in the room. The businesses that avoid them aren't lucky. They are prepared.
Assess honestly.
That means understanding the real capabilities of your management teams, not the ones on paper, not the ones inherited, but the ones that will be tested under pressure. It means making difficult decisions about where the gaps are and what needs to change before the business can credibly move forward.
Connect strategy to execution.
The distance between a well-constructed strategy and its organized delivery is where most businesses lose ground. That requires understanding the connective tissue between front, middle, and back office, where decisions made at the top disconnect from operational reality, and where structural failures are quietly absorbing capital and management attention.
Make the numbers work.
EBITDA performance, CapEx and OpEx allocation, and the relationship between them reveal more about the health of a business than any strategic narrative. The financial architecture needs to reflect the strategic ambition, and where it doesn't, the gap will be found. Either by you, or by someone whose interests are not aligned with yours.
The institutions that get this right bring in the experience to see it clearly, the independence to say it honestly, and the accountability to see it through.
The difference: Advisory vs. FractionalHow we work
Ignition Advisory operates across two distinct but complementary models both built on the same foundation of senior experience, genuine independence, and direct accountability.
Strategic Advisory
-
Some decisions are too important to get wrong and demand more expertise than any internal team can reasonably be expected to carry alone.
-
For institutions that need experienced, external judgment brought to bear on a specific challenge, decision, or area of risk — without the requirement for a full-time embedded presence.
-
We work on a retained or project basis across risk governance, financial strategy, operational risk, regulatory navigation, and transaction advisory. The engagement is defined, the mandate is clear, and the challenge we provide is unfiltered.
This model suits institutions facing a specific decision or period of complexity where independent senior thinking will materially improve the quality of the outcome.
Embedded Leadership
-
The institution needs senior leadership in the role, not a search process running alongside it. A permanent hire takes months. The gap you're carrying doesn't.
-
For institutions that need a senior leader in the role — not an advisor alongside it.
-
Ignition Advisory places experienced executives into financial institutions on a defined contractual basis. Each engagement operates with a clear mandate and timeframe agreed at the outset. The executive steps in with full authority, operates as a substantive member of the leadership team, and works to deliver the outcomes the mandate requires before transitioning out in a planned and orderly way.
The roles we fill are senior. The executives we place have held them before. The engagement is designed from the start with one objective: to leave the institution in a stronger position than when they arrived.
These institutions reflect a selection of organisations the Ignition Advisory team has worked with throughout their careers, from global to mid-market institutions where fit for purpose, practical expertise matters as much as pedigree
Case studiesThe work in practice
The work below was delivered by the Ignition Advisory team throughout their careers at scale, under pressure, and with the accountability that comes from being genuinely embedded in the institutions they served.
-
A major financial institution faced a significant regulatory mandate that required a comprehensive review of its operational and control environment across multiple business lines and geographies. The existing framework had accumulated gaps over years of growth and acquisition, gaps that were manageable in normal conditions but represented material exposure under regulatory scrutiny.
Senior leadership was embedded into the programme, restructuring the governance model, redesigning the control framework from the ground up, and rebuilding the institution's relationship with its regulator on firmer foundations. The result was full remediation within the mandated timeframe, a materially stronger control environment, and a regulatory relationship reset on the institution's terms rather than the regulator's.
-
Two major financial institutions forming a joint venture needed to consolidate significantly different operating platforms, spanning products, systems, processes, and $700 billion in assets, within a non-negotiable timeline. The complexity was substantial, the internal political dynamics were delicate, and the margin for error was effectively zero.
The programme management office was led across the full lifecycle, from gap analysis and target operating model design through to testing, conversion, and post-integration stabilization. The consolidation was delivered on time, the expected synergy savings were realized, and the institution emerged with a single, coherent operating platform capable of supporting the next stage of growth.
-
A financial institution was evaluating a significant strategic expansion that would require substantial capital deployment, new operational infrastructure, and entry into a market where it had limited prior experience. Internal teams were close to the opportunity and under pressure to deliver a recommendation.
Independent financial and strategic challenge was provided, stress testing the assumptions embedded in the business case, modelling downside scenarios that internal teams had not fully examined, and presenting the board with a clear-eyed assessment of the risks and realistic returns. The institution proceeded but with a materially refined strategy, a more conservative capital structure, and a clearer view of where the risks actually sat.
-
A financial institution's operations function had accumulated significant structural weaknesses during a period of rapid growth, including thousands of unresolved breaks representing tens of millions in exposure, inadequate controls, and an internal audit opinion that had raised serious concerns about the adequacy of the control environment.
A structured remediation programme was established, building governance, conducting root cause analysis across every area of weakness, rebuilding the control framework, and managing the resolution of all outstanding exposures within a mandated deadline. One hundred percent of the identified breaks were remediated. The function emerged with documented policies and procedures, a functioning control environment, and an operating model capable of supporting the institution's growth without repeating the conditions that had created the problem.
The situations that matter most rarely announce themselves cleanly.
“The circumstances vary. The need for grounded, embedded, senior expertise does not.”
‘Experience formed in the field. Judgment delivered without compromise. Accountability that doesn't end at the engagement letter’
‘The moments that define your institution rarely arrive when you are best placed to handle them.’
